Vision & Values

What We Believe

We believe Scripture is the authoritative and inspired Word of God and we uphold the Nicene, Apostles’ and Athanasian Creeds as the Rule of Faith. We are committed to salvation through Jesus Christ in both word and deed by taking the Gospel to all peoples in all places. We worship God through Word, service, sacrament, music and prayer. We glorify God through the Biblical standard of tithing and faithful stewardship of our time, talent and treasure. We partner with our families to raise children who love and serve Jesus Christ. We uphold the Sanctity of Life from conception to natural death. We honor God’s covenant of Christian marriage and affirm Godly singleness.
VisionVision and Future: Next Steps In Our Gospel Story

We See a Church Where God is Glorified, Jesus is Exalted
“To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and might forever.”  —Rev. 5:13

First and foremost, we want to be a church which glorifies God and where Jesus Christ is exalted as Savior and King! We desire to make Him the center of our life together and to elevate worship to a high place of honor as we meet to lift up His name and extol His glory.

We See a Church on Mission with Every Member a Disciple Making Disciples
Go and make disciples of all nations …”  —Matt. 28:19
Every member is a disciple making disciples – a charge given to us by Jesus Himself in His Great Commission in Matthew 28. This call is for EVERY member of St. James and there is a place and a plan and purpose which God has already ordained for each of us!

We See a Church for All Generations
“What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach
others also.”  — 2 Tim. 2:2

We desire to be a church which embraces, cares for, nurtures, and invests in all generations!

We See a Church Which is Generous for the Growth of the Kingdom
“Whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”  —2 Corinthians 9:6b
We want to be a congregation which generously shares with other Christ-centered groups, ministries, and missions all that God has so graciously given to us. That may be finances, resources, learning, or training but it is all for God’s Kingdom!

We See a Growing Church
And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”  —Acts 2:47
The Kingdom of God is always growing as evidenced in the Book of Acts where the “number” of those being added to the Kingdom of God is referenced many times. St. James Church must be released by the Lord to think larger than our current membership so that we may truly see God’s Kingdom grow and also imagine new congregations and other works that will be birthed here.
