The Message of the Kingdom

The Message of the Kingdom

This past Sunday in our February sermon series on the Kingdom of God, we asked the question, “What is the message of the Kingdom?” First we established that as blood bring life to the body, so communication brings life to the Kingdom of God! The Kingdom message, though certainly communicated through the actions of our lives, is inherently verbal. Jesus preached the Kingdom. (Luke 4:43) Paul proclaimed the Kingdom. (Acts 28:31) We are called to share the message of the Kingdom by communicating it in words with others.

And what is that message? Here are three important aspects of it:

1. The Kingdom message is one of advance and increase.
Isaiah the prophet said the kingdom which Jesus the Messiah would bring would know “no end.” (Isaiah 9:7) In His parable on the Mustard Seed (Matthew 13), Jesus described the Kingdom as growing to great expanse. How is your mustard seed doing?

2. The Kingdom is all about the Holy Spirit.
Though the Kingdom of God is not the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is not the Kingdom, where you will find one, you will always find the other. Nurture your relationship with the Holy Spirit. Seek Him and His power and you will see the Kingdom move through you.

3. The Kingdom of God is for all people.
Often Christians act as if the Kingdom message is just for us when indeed, it is for all people, including those who are not yet Christian! Are you sharing the message of God’s Kingdom with unbelievers yet?

We are called the verbally share the Message of God’s Kingdom, remembering that it is a message of advance and increase. It is all about the Holy Spirit! And it is a message for all people!
